Hummus is a very popular dish in the Middle East. The main ingredients are chickpeas. Hummus contains lots of fiber and protein and it fits perfectly in a low carb diet, such as the South Beach Diet.
How to make hummus?
You will need the following ingredients:
- A can of chickpeas, or 225 grams of cooked chickpeas
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 2 tablespoons of tahini, or 2 tablespoons of peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon of cumin powder
- 1 tablespoon of water
Cooking tools:
- Food processor or mini chopper Recommended: KitchenAid 3.5-c. Food Chopper.
Cooking instructions:
Put all the ingredients directly into the chopper. Blend for 2-5 minutes until the mixture is smooth.
